Someone asked me why I keep reminding people to revoke smart contract permissions, like how, when I was a kid, I had to shut the window before bed—it’s annoying. Actually, it’s pretty simple—an unlimited allowance is like handing someone your house keys without limits, and telling them, “You can empty my house anytime.” Recently, a certain place increased taxes, so everyone has become extra cautious when making deposits and withdrawals, afraid of being watched. Then on-chain permissions should be even more tightly managed: if one of the protocols gets hacked, whatever little savings you’ve accumulated in your wallet could be wiped out. In any case, I’m used to revoking the authorization right after each transaction, or using a limited approval—no hassle. A sense of security is like sleeping: it’s everyday stuff, but if you miss it, something can really go wrong.
