Just spent half a day messing around with a cross-chain bridge, and the fees have jumped again—looks like gas still won’t settle down. Lately I’ve been thinking about wallets: hardware, multisig, social recovery—each has its own pitfalls.
Hardware wallets are definitely reliable, but if you’re truly holding assets worth tens of thousands of USDT or more, that bit of operation cost is worth it. Social recovery is suitable for small amounts—like just a few hundred USDT—so if you lose it, you won’t feel too bad. But the recovery process is complicated, and if someone around you drops the ball, it’s even more of a headache. Multisig works fine for teams, but forcing it as an individual is kind of self-inflicted torture—you have to get everyone together for every transaction, which is annoying.
In any case, decide based on the size of your assets: if you have a large amount of funds, pair a hardware wallet with a trustworthy multisig or social recovery as a backup—don’t go “naked.” Like someone such as me, who’s a frequent cross-chain user, I also have to watch out for security vulnerabilities in the bridge itself; if liquidity gets drained, you’re finished.
Recently, AI Agent and automated trading have been all the rage, and the hype has been wildly over the top. But there are plenty of security vulnerabilities in on-chain interactions—some people are just busy pushing the narrative and can’t even be bothered to audit the contract. Plainly put: safety first. Don’t get fooled by flashy features.
