This morning I opened my wallet and found that a certain small chain’s balance hadn’t refreshed. I thought, “Oh no,” but then I checked the block explorer—wow, the progress was off by three hours. Actually, this kind of thing is pretty common: RPC nodes sometimes stay hanging there pretending to be online, and indexers may also miss data due to slow syncing or misconfiguration. Anyway, I’m using multiple RPCs in rotation, and I’ve added a backup node too—otherwise, even if you see “latest status,” you’ll start doubting whether it’s actually from yesterday. Speaking of taxes and compliance, lately some friends really have been struggling with whether to move funds back onto-chain for custody, since the paperwork and expectations for deposits/withdrawals keep changing. But I still believe this: as long as your nodes are run by you, on-chain data will always reach the front first.
