I’ve really been burned a few times by on-chain data latency. Earlier I was watching a new protocol—TVL was clearly rising fast. But when I checked, the indexer was updating slowly by a few minutes. I could literally see the pool’s slippage spike on my side, and I only realized it after burning gas because someone else had already front-run it. I’ve learned my lesson now: I pull multiple RPC nodes and cross-check, but honestly, the node status latency is worse than I imagined. The “on-chain” you’re seeing may already be a few blocks behind. Recently, people are doing social mining again—attention is the asset, so to speak—but if on-chain data is all arriving late, can this still be real-time?
For my part, I’ve recently been tracking the number of interaction addresses for a few protocols; I won’t comment on the rest, but at least the retention looks okay. In the end, I’ll still add to my position when I should—I just have to accept it: slippage might be the cost of fighting latency.
