Lately, watching project teams’ treasury spending feels like reading a former partner’s social posts—I can’t help trying to figure out whether “this money is worth it.” In the past, I would focus on the milestone list item by item. Now I feel that the people who truly get things done often write milestones in a plain, even somewhat conservative way, but the spending pace matches the team’s overall dynamics. There won’t be sudden bursts of money thrown at marketing. When a local area raised taxes, I actually lowered my expectations for inflows and outflows of funds, and things felt a lot easier—since compliance tightening isn’t going to happen in just one or two days, rather than worrying, it’s better to watch how the project responds: are they genuinely optimizing costs, or are they only going to shout slogans? Basically, once I lower my expectations, I can observe those “slow but steady” teams more calmly. I don’t chase, don’t over-leverage, and just stick to my own rules.
