Deep Tide TechFlow news: On July 19, MetaMask parent company Consensys disclosed that a North Korean developer who impersonated the identity of “Tyler Knapp” had gained access to the MetaMask team by entering as an outsourced consultant and, within about one month, contributed to the development of core wallet code, including parts of the work involving crypto-asset and fiat conversion functionality.

After identifying the risks, Consensys immediately terminated the individual’s access and stated that, following a comprehensive investigation, it found no evidence of assets being misappropriated, data leakage, malicious code deployment, or any impact to user security. The incident once again highlights the security risks of people associated with North Korea infiltrating crypto companies by disguising technical job roles.
