When I first started on-chain, I saw MEV bots front-run, so I followed the trend and charged in too, thinking that if I managed to get in first, that meant I’d profit. In the end, several times I got sandwiched so hard I couldn’t move. When I looked back, my little bit of gas fees had all turned into someone else’s profit 😅. That kind of “seeing an opportunity” excitement—put plainly—I didn’t understand the underlying logic of the on-chain world. The arbitrage window you see might be the slaughter range pre-written in someone else’s script. Now when I watch on-chain data, I care more about abnormal flows and where funds are going. Sometimes I even write a small script to track those strange large transfers—far more solid than mindlessly front-running.
Recently, hardware wallets have been out of stock badly, and people’s security awareness has improved—but phishing links are everywhere too. Never connect your wallet on an unknown site. It’s better to go slower and verify a few more steps than to be greedy for that “looks like guaranteed profit” arbitrage opportunity. Anyway, my position is like noodles in a hot pot—I can add some spice and still eat it. But if I get sandwiched into mush, then there’s really no saving it.
