Previously, I really couldn’t bear to use the mainnet—gas was absurdly expensive, so everything got moved to layer 2. Now, new L1/L2 launches keep coming one after another with incentives. People say on their mouths “mine/earn, then sell,” but their actions are still pretty honest…… In fact, for ordinary users, the trade-off is pretty simple: do small-value tryouts, and use L2 to farm rewards without feeling bad (for example, routine transfers on OP/ARB). For large interactions or playing with older, well-established DeFi, it’s better to go back to the mainnet for safety—because bridging back and forth can be more annoying than you’d expect in terms of gas and latency. Anyway, don’t save a few bucks on gas, only to bridge back later and pay another fee—the result would be an awkward loss. 😅
