Just saw gas spike to a few hundred, and my heart skipped a beat… Honestly, when the mempool clogs up, it’s like a sudden stampede of wild boars charging into a vegetable patch—your little plot of vegetables (transactions) has to line up, get cut in, and get smashed to pieces. I stepped into a trap a few days ago: I set a normal gas, but then the chain suddenly saw a massive surge in transactions/orders, and I watched my transaction grind in the queue for almost twenty minutes—only to have someone else’s arbitrage bot cut in line mid-way… Finally it landed, but the slippage was so out of this world it was ridiculous.
Later I learned my lesson: when there’s congestion, either just wait for the next round, or manually raise the gas a little bit—but don’t get carried away. Otherwise, you’ll really end up serving as fertilizer for miners.
By the way, haven’t people been saying lately that on-chain data tools and the tagging system often lag? I’ve felt that deeply: sometimes when you look at the tags in a block explorer, the new pool seems “clean,” but once you go in, you get rugged. Those tags simply didn’t have time to update…
In plain terms, when the network is clogged, it’s not about hand speed—it’s about patience. Don’t let queue anxiety drag you along. That’s it for now—I’m going to check if there are any new holes to patch.
