TSMC (TSMC) is the world’s leading semiconductor foundry, with recent developments as follows:
1. Capacity and Investment
• 2026 capital expenditures: raised to $60–64 billion (a historical high), with 70%-80% going to advanced process nodes (such as 2nm and below).
• Expansion in the United States: an additional $100 billion investment will be made; four new plants will be built in Arizona (including advanced packaging), bringing total investment to $265 billion, with the number of factories increasing to 12.
2. Technology and Market
• AI-driven demand: orders from customers such as Nvidia and Broadcom have surged; AI-related revenue in 2026 may exceed $10k, with order visibility extending to 2028.
• Silicon photonics rollout: PIC (photon integrated circuit) capacity will reach 10k wafers/month in Q2 2026, with a target of 25k wafers/month by 2028.
3. Financial Performance
• Gross margin: gross margin is nearly 68% in Q2 2026, and is expected to remain at 65%-67% in Q3.
• Revenue growth: the 2026 revenue target is set to exceed $25k, marking three consecutive years of record highs.
4. Pricing Strategy
Chairman Wei Zhejia emphasized: it will not suddenly raise prices significantly due to supply tightness; pricing is based on customers’ sustainable growth to secure long-term cooperation.
5. Industry Position
• The world’s largest manufacturer of advanced logic chips, with 9 production sites; its share of 300mm wafer fabs is higher than Intel’s.
• TSMC’s China subsidiary (TSMC China) received 2025 national-level green factory certification; revenue was $53.8B (in 2021).
