A surge in Korean stock leverage liquidations, mirrored on-chain.

In July, Korean retail traders’ liquidations topped 510 billion won, with the KOSPI falling to nearly 20%. On-chain leverage and the Korean stock market are forming a mirror-like resonance—making the crypto market shift from a bystander to a participant.
On-chain stock contracts saw $8.8 billion in daily trading volume, with SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics being traded with high leverage on platforms such as Hyperliquid. Korean regulators have tightened leverage for chip-focused ETFs, but on-chain leverage does not require a broker and can be traded within 24 hours. Liquidation is overflowing from traditional markets, and the mirror risk on the crypto side is accelerating its convergence.
On July 9–10, liquidations totaled 223.8 billion won over two days, with a concentrated clearing. On-chain whales were also floating at a loss of a million dollars on SK Hynix long positions. The leverage cycle in traditional markets and the one in crypto are syncing, with capital flowing out in both directions.
What to watch out for is that the liquidation cascade from on-chain leverage could be faster and more irreversible than in traditional markets. When liquidation signals from Korean retail traders transmit onto the chain, the liquidation spiral won’t distinguish between markets.
