Norway to Beat England in Thriller My Prediction Is Norway to Edge a Thriller The Norwegian vs. The English. Many consider this to be a difficult tie to call between two very talented teams and you would not be alone in that sentiment. England have vast experience when playing in major tournaments and yet Norway, fresh off their dismantling of Brazil are playing with a new found belief, and a team which believes it can beat any opponent is a formidable foe indeed.
For me, there are 2 major reasons as to why this tournament might end in disappointment for England.
Firstly there isErling Haaland – there is really no reason to over analyse what this man has done so far –7 goals in four games is quite incredible. Secondly England’s defense – it’s already a little unsettled with injured players, and with the doubt over the fitness of Rice I can see Norway getting space on the counter. Give Haaland a clear cut opportunity or two, and you never know what’s possible. This is of course an extremely talented England team with quality in every position on the park and there will be spells in the game when they are dominant on possession and create lots of opportunities but knockout games, as we well know can be decided in moments, not the 90 minutes of play.
There is no previous history of these two nations meeting at major tournaments which really just adds to the intrigue of the match, as two nations begin a brand new page in their respective football histories.
My expectation is Norway will defend deep and hit England on the break and their pace on the counter-attack coupled with the danger posed by Haaland is a real threat. My prediction isNorway 2-1England. Haaland will undoubtedly score andNorway’s momentum will carry them through to the semi-final of the tournament.
That being said,I cannot see this match finishing after 90 minutes and the match would surprise me if it didn’t go to extra time. These are exactly the games that I love –the ones which can and should throw up the biggest shocks in the competition. One goal, one chance and one moment can create an entirely different story for an entire country.
What do you think about Norway against England?
Will Haaland fire Norway through to a historic semi-final or will Englands superior experience prevail?
