From stablecoins to security tokens to BTC credit tools, Japan’s game plan is quite systematic. Metaplanet leads the research rather than directly launching a product, suggesting it really wants to work through a compliant framework—let’s see whether others can “copy the playbook” once it’s actually implemented.

Metaplanet and JPYC jointly research Bitcoin-backed credit products
Metaplanet announced that it will jointly research digital credit instruments supported by Bitcoin together with JPYC, Progmat, and Japan’s securities regulator, to evaluate whether BTC can be used as collateral for digital corporate bonds or as credit enhancement. It has not yet decided whether to issue a product. The research covers design, regulation, investor protection, settlement, and technology, and is led by Metaplanet and its securities division. JPYC studies stablecoin issuance and payments, while Progmat provides the infrastructure for secure token issuance and ownership transfer. This is part of its efforts to promote Bitcoin financial services in Japan.
