Bitcoin is the most traded cryptocurrency in the world and makes up the largest portion of the crypto market. It was the first digital coin, and as such, remains the most widely known and adopted cryptocurrency globally. It is the original asset class that all other coins follow in its footsteps. The birth of Bitcoin marked the beginning of an entirely new asset class and a major step away from traditional centrally controlled money. Today, many of its supporters believe that Bitcoin will facilitate the next stage of the global financial system, although this—of course—remains to be seen.
