Recently, there's been rumors in the group again about a certain stablecoin de-pegging, screenshots flying everywhere. I clicked in to check the reserve report, but the PDF got stuck loading on the third page... Forget it.
To be honest, I'm not that panicked about the de-pegging itself. What scares me is that suffocating feeling of "everyone else is running." Last time a coin flash crashed, on-chain gas spiked to three digits, and I still had an approve stuck in my wallet unconfirmed, with the Nonce reused. I got so mad I rebooted the node.
As for reserve transparency, I've looked at a few audits, and it all feels like "we looked, but didn't fully look." You know that feeling? Like a code review that's just going through the motions, a quick LGTM but deep down you're not confident.
Anyway, I now split my more stable U into multiple places, don't stake on a single point, and have two backup RPCs. When de-pegging really comes, being able to run away is more important than running fast.
