Recently, cross-chain bridges have had issues again, and the group is sharing screenshots of "waiting for 15 confirmations." It suddenly struck me that back when I looked at block confirmation counts, I had no clue—the bigger the number, the safer, right? Now I understand that the string of numbers actually represents "how many people are watching out for you."
Data availability, sequencing, finality... The terms sound intimidating, but essentially it's about whether you dare to place your bet at this point. The oracle price anomaly incident was the same—some people rushed in as soon as the number changed, while others insisted on waiting until the risk of on-chain rollback passed. Neither approach is wrong, but you need to know which one you're choosing.
Now before I open a position, I take an extra glance at the confirmation progress bar. It's not that I don't trust the technology, it's that I don't trust my own quick trigger finger. Keeping the position curve unbroken is more important than making quick money. That's it for now.
