I’m not very good at analyzing those macro trends, but the whole royalty thing… it kind of makes me want to complain.

Lately I’ve been seeing people in the group argue about whether royalties should be mandatory. Creators say they can’t survive without income, and buyers say why should I get “cut” just because I resell something I already transferred once. Both sides are pretty miserable, but honestly, the ridiculous avatars I picked up for just a few bucks… I never expected to get rich off royalties in the first place. When something you bought just for fun suddenly turns into a serious matter of calculating profit and loss, it just feels less fun.

Now the pace of celebrities shilling Meme coins is getting faster and faster. Yesterday we were talking about this coin, and today it’s on to the next one. Veteran players keep telling people not to take the last baton, but new folks just won’t listen. The royalty dispute is basically the same logic—attention moves too fast, nobody wants to hold long-term, and naturally creators can’t make money.

I think mandatory royalties probably can’t save the creator economy, but completely abolishing them feels a bit cold-hearted. Anyway, when I buy avatars, I just care whether I like them—how much the royalty is doesn’t matter much to me. That’s it for now.
