Just stared at the mempool for ten minutes. An ordinary transfer jumped from 20 gwei to 45 and still hasn't been confirmed. Suddenly remembered those screenshots in the group about the reserves of some stablecoin. Actually, no one really understands the audit; they just have their fingers hovering over the withdrawal button, continuously refreshing.
At times like this, the chain is the most honest—congestion doesn't lie. When gas spikes, your transaction either pays more to cut in line, or waits patiently. I've set a 110% acceleration cap anyway; if it exceeds that, I just let it sit and go make a cup of tea.
When it comes down to it, queuing in the mempool and the panic in the group are pretty similar—both are endless waiting. The only difference is one burns gas, the other burns your mind.
