CoinJie News reports that AI company Anthropic announced the restoration of public access to its flagship Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models after the U.S. government lifted export restrictions. The decision was made following negotiations between federal officials and the company, after an early suspension prompted by cybersecurity concerns. Anthropic said enhanced security measures can better balance innovation and national security than long-term restrictions. The company has deployed new classifiers aimed at blocking a wider range of requests related to cybersecurity. U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that during the review process, officials worked with Anthropic, focusing on approving Fable 5 while strengthening the United States’ leadership in advanced AI. White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles also said the government’s priority is to quickly deploy advanced technology while maintaining appropriate security safeguards. The incident has sparked widespread discussion in the tech industry, as the temporary export controls involved a commercially available frontier model.

The bargaining chips on the negotiation table are data security or market share. For this question, I choose C: both.

The term "temporary export control" is cleverly used. Is a commercial frontier model considered sensitive technology or not?

The US side is focusing on promoting Fable 5; has Mythos 5 been neglected?

Fable 5 is back, and the speed of this round of negotiations is faster than I expected.
