AI-Driven Applications: 8-Inch Wafers to Enter a New Round of Shortages and Price Increases

Mars Finance News, Qunzhi Consulting stated that as AI data centers continue to drive the growth of 8-inch demand, coupled with the proactive production cuts by leading foundries and an increase in IDM outsourcing orders, it is expected that the global 8-inch foundry supply and demand will continue to tighten from 2027 onwards. Although the trend of converting 8-inch to 12-inch can provide some relief, it cannot reverse the long-term tightening trend of 8-inch wafer supply. With the clear trend of rising capacity utilization and upstream material prices, 8-inch wafer foundry is likely to enter a price increase cycle from 2027 to 2030. (Cailianshe)
