Iranian Military Issues Stern Warning: Any Attack During Khamenei's Funeral Will Face 'Cruel Retaliation'

On July 2, Iran is preparing for the state funeral of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the military has issued a severe warning. Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Central Headquarters of the Iranian Armed Forces, stated: 'We warn the United States and Israel not to make any misjudgments. Any threat or aggression will provoke cruel retaliation from the Iranian armed forces.' Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian also took to social media, urging Trump to 'manage his agents in Tel Aviv.' The funeral arrangements include a procession starting on July 4 in Tehran, with burial on July 9 in Mashhad, and memorial events taking place in Qom and Iraq during this period. Iran has raised national security levels and implemented temporary airspace controls in multiple locations. Iranian Speaker of Parliament Ghalibaf has called for mass public participation in the funeral, stating, 'Let the call for revenge resonate throughout the world.' Currently, the next round of indirect negotiations between the U.S. and Iran will begin after the funeral, focusing on issues such as the implementation of a ceasefire memorandum, the unfreezing of assets, and matters concerning the Strait of Hormuz. There remains sharp opposition between both sides regarding the issue of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Khamenei was killed on February 28 during the first day of war airstrikes, and his son Mojtaba Khamenei has succeeded him as Supreme Leader.
