Korean stock market evaporated about 579 trillion won today, KOSPI plunged nearly 8%

Mars Finance News reported that on July 2, the South Korean stock market saw a sharp pullback today. The Korea KOSPI index closed at 7,648.09 points, down 655.32 points on the day, a decline of 7.89%. Based on Naver Finance’s KOSPI market-cap page for the same day, with a total market value of approximately 6,758.9 trillion KRW, and working backward from the index’s decline, the KOSPI market saw about 578.96 trillion KRW in market value evaporate in a single day, equivalent to about 371.6 billion USD. In terms of individual stocks, semiconductor heavyweight shares led the decline; Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell sharply, dragging down the overall pullback in the South Korean stock market.
