Gate Stocks Transfer Is Live: Zero-Fee Cross-Broker Transfers for U.S. and Hong Kong Equities
Gate has officially launched its Stock Transfer-In and Transfer-Out services, enabling cross-broker transfers for U.S. and Hong Kong-listed equities and significantly strengthening its global equities trading ecosystem. This launch, combined with the existing Gate Stocks platform offering over 11,000 listed securities across U.S. and Hong Kong markets, transforms Gate from a crypto-only exchange into a genuinely multi-asset platform where users can manage digital assets and traditional equities within a single unified account structure.
The transfer service uses the Free of Payment (FOP) method, a standard industry mechanism for moving stock positions between brokers without simultaneous cash settlement. U.S. stock transfers are processed through the Depository Trust Company (DTC) system, the primary U.S. securities depository that handles clearing and settlement for NYSE, Nasdaq, and other major exchanges. Hong Kong stock transfers are handled through the Central Clearing and Settlement System (CCASS), Hong Kong's equivalent infrastructure. The transfer process typically takes between 3 and 15 business days, with the actual completion time depending on the processing efficiency of both brokerages and market settlement procedures.
The fee structure is a competitive advantage: Gate charges zero fees for both stock transfers in and out. External broker fees may apply depending on the originating or receiving broker's policies, but Gate does not add any cost on its side. This zero-fee approach removes a common friction point that discourages investors from consolidating positions across platforms, making it economically rational for users with scattered brokerage accounts to centralize their equity holdings within Gate.
The operational process is straightforward. Users access the "More" section in the Gate App and select either "Transfer In Stocks" or "Transfer Out Stocks" under "Common Features." After choosing the U.S. or Hong Kong market, they submit a transfer request by providing the required brokerage information, stock ticker, share quantity, and other relevant details. For transfers into Gate, users must first contact their existing brokerage to initiate the outbound transfer. For transfers out of Gate, users provide the receiving brokerage's information. A transfer history feature tracks status in real time, displaying Processing, Completed, or Cancelled states.
Gate Stocks currently supports over 10,000 U.S. stocks and ETFs across NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, NYSE American, and BATS, plus more than 1,000 Hong Kong securities including Tencent Holdings, HSBC Holdings, CATL, China Mobile, Xiaomi, Meituan, BYD, Ping An Insurance, AIA Group, and HKEX. Korean stocks have also been added. The web version launched alongside the mobile platform, providing full cross-platform access. All trading is conducted using USDT as the base currency, enabling crypto-native users to buy and sell real equities without converting to fiat through a traditional bank.
The broader strategic context amplifies the significance of this launch. The S&P 500 just posted its best quarter since 2020, with the Dow closing above 52,000 for the first time and the Nasdaq climbing 12.8% in the first half of 2026. The chip and AI stock rally has been the dominant driver, with nearly 60% of S&P 500 earnings growth this quarter estimated to come from AI infrastructure stocks. At the same time, MiCA enforcement from July 1 has concentrated compliant platforms in the EU, and the TradFi CFD Gold Masters campaign on Gate (500,000 USDT prize pool plus 1,020g of gold prizes, running through July 11) is drawing attention to Gate's traditional asset trading capabilities.
For users, the combined value proposition is compelling: a single platform where you can trade BTC and ETH, buy real Apple or NVIDIA shares, trade gold CFDs, stake USD1 for yield, and pay with the Gate Card earning up to 8% cashback in points. The stock transfer service removes the last significant barrier to consolidation, making it feasible to move existing equity positions from traditional brokerages into Gate's ecosystem without selling and repurchasing.
The key risk factor is processing time: 3-15 business days means transfers are not real-time, and users needing to quickly reposition equity holdings during volatile market periods should plan accordingly. Market settlement procedures and the originating broker's processing speed are outside Gate's control. But for longer-term portfolio consolidation, the zero-fee, FOP-based transfer process is a practical and cost-effective solution.
