On July 2, the South Korean stock market experienced a significant correction. The KOSPI index closed at 7,648.09 points, down 655.32 points or 7.89% for the day. According to Naver Finance, the total market capitalization of KOSPI was approximately 6,758.9 trillion won, and with the index decline factored in, the market lost about 578.96 trillion won in a single day, equivalent to approximately 371.6 billion dollars. In terms of individual stocks, semiconductor heavyweights led the decline, with major companies like Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix suffering substantial losses, dragging down the overall South Korean stock market.
