GEN Z: “I make almost every meal at home.”
BOOMER PARENT: “Then why are your grocery bills so high?”
GEN Z: “Dropped about $280 this week.”
BOOMER PARENT: “For one person? That’s impossible.”
GEN Z: “Ground beef is $8 a pound. Eggs are pushing $6. Even basics aren’t cheap anymore.”
BOOMER PARENT: “You’re buying the wrong things.”
GEN Z: “Discount store. Generic brands. Digital coupons. I already cut every corner.”
BOOMER PARENT: “We used to feed five people on less than that.”
GEN Z: “Yeah… three decades ago.”
BOOMER PARENT: “Sounds like excuses.”
Meanwhile, major grocery chains continue posting billions in annual profits.
Food prices have climbed by more than 30% over the past few years.
But apparently the real problem is that I don’t know how to buy groceries.
