The government today commended several individuals in the community. Among them, Yu Dasong, Director (Security and Critical Computer Systems) of the Kai Tak Sports Park, was awarded the "Chief Executive's Commendation for Community Service" in recognition of his contributions to the preparatory work for the 15th National Games, the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities, and the 9th Special Olympics. He expressed his honor and stated:

"This honor is by no means personal; it is the result of the collective efforts of the entire team. From frontline operations personnel to logistical support teams, the professional dedication and steadfast commitment of every colleague are indispensable to success. I sincerely thank the National Games Coordination Office of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau for its meticulous guidance, as well as the strong support from various government departments, volunteer teams, and the general public. It is precisely through the seamless cooperation and concerted efforts of all sectors of society that the events of the National Games were able to be conducted efficiently, orderly, and safely."

The Sports Park stated that the National Games, jointly hosted by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, marks a significant milestone in promoting regional sports cooperation and integrated development. As one of the main venues for the Hong Kong competition zone, the park undertook the important task of hosting multiple events, including men's handball, rugby sevens, fencing, and the Paralympic sport of boccia. During the event preparation process, the park team faced multiple challenges, including the technical requirements of different sports events, international-grade venue standards, cross-regional operational modes, and complex tasks such as security, transportation, crowd management, and information system operations during the events. Additionally, cross-departmental collaboration was required, working closely with the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, the police, the Fire Services Department, the Transport Department, and medical emergency units to ensure smooth coordination of all arrangements. At the same time, efficient communication was maintained with sports associations, event organizing committees, and relevant stakeholders to complete all high-standard preparatory work within a limited timeframe.

Yu Dasong: Continue to Uphold the Spirit of Excellence to Promote Hong Kong's Sports Development

Yu Dasong noted that the preparation period for the National Games coincided with the critical stage of the Kai Tak Sports Park's completion and gradual operation. The park was in a phase of exploration and optimization regarding facility operations, alignment with event standards, and establishment of internal processes. Additionally, differences in event rules, technical standards, and operational models across regions required the team to conduct extensive coordination, testing, and adjustments to meet the requirements of a national-level event. Throughout this process, professional advice from sports experts, along with multiple cross-agency drills and tests, significantly enhanced the overall preparation efficiency and quality, providing important safeguards for the smooth running of the events.

Looking ahead, Yu Dasong said that the Kai Tak Sports Park will continue to uphold the spirit of excellence, fully support the Hong Kong SAR government's sports development strategy, and promote the development of local sports in the directions of popularization, elite development, major events, professionalism, and industrialization. At the same time, the park will proactively introduce more international sports, cultural, and entertainment events, deepening the synergy of "sports + tourism" and "events + tourism" to drive economic growth and enhance Hong Kong's international image.

Separately, this morning, the Sports Park held its first flag-raising ceremony and sports experience workshops to celebrate the July 1 anniversary since its opening at the Central Plaza. The atmosphere was lively, attracting a large number of citizens to participate. Amid the solemn flag-raising ceremony and diverse sports experiences, everyone shared in the festive joy and demonstrated community cohesion.
