To celebrate the 29th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China, the Hong Kong government and various sectors have launched a variety of discounts in dining, shopping, and entertainment. This year, over 3,400 restaurants are offering discounts. As in previous years, Secretaries and Directors have formed teams to visit communities, sharing the benefits with citizens and supporting local consumption.

July 1 Discounts︱Many Enjoy Dining Discounts; Finance Secretary Visits Halal Restaurant

In recent years, the Hong Kong government has been promoting the city as a "Muslim-friendly" tourist destination, advancing halal-certified dining. Financial Secretary Paul Chan visited the Happy Muslim Halal Restaurant at the Canal Road Market. Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Cheung Kwok-kwan, Deputy Financial Secretary Michael Wong, and Deputy Secretary for Justice Cheung Kwok-kwan continued their tradition of visiting a tea restaurant in Sheung Wan, enjoying a 30% discount on the total bill. Cheung Kwok-kwan noted that with the 30% discount, the restaurant was very busy, and diners were enjoying their meals. Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau and Under Secretary for Health Violet Lee also visited a Hong Kong-style tea restaurant. Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak and Under Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Leung Hung-ching went to a Chinese restaurant in Central for dim sum, also enjoying a 30% discount on the total bill. Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Algernon Yau and his political assistant visited McDonald's for coffee. He encouraged families to go out today, "eating, playing, and spending." Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong had lunch at a restaurant in Cyberport's mall. This restaurant joined the Cyberport Incubation Program in 2018 and collaborates with various local organizations.

July 1 Discounts︱Yeung Ho Pui-yan Visits Lui Seng Chun, Encourages Staying in Hong Kong for Spending

Secretary for the Civil Service Ingrid Yeung visited Lui Seng Chun, a building completed in 1931 and now a declared monument, where she also took advantage of the July 1 discounts, tasting several types of herbal tea. She urged citizens to stay in Hong Kong and support local consumption. Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Christopher Hui also opted for turtle jelly and herbal tea.

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan took the free Star Ferry route from Tsim Sha Tsui to Wan Chai, available only today, hoping citizens would experience this historic moving landmark of Hong Kong. Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun visited Yue Hwa Chinese Products in Jordan, purchasing health equipment and table tennis paddles at discounted prices to balance work pressure.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club also introduced multiple special offers today. Chief Secretary for Administration Eric Chan attended the opening ceremony of the "Hong Kong Celebration of the Handover Race Day" at Sha Tin Racecourse. Secretary for Security Tang Ping-keung, along with members of the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps, and Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law visited the "China Manned Space Program" exhibition at the Hong Kong Space Museum to learn about the extraordinary achievements of the national space program. Tang also shared the story of Lai Ka-ying, who was seconded to the Security Bureau years ago.
