【Rumor Debunking【

The "PI licenses" mentioned in Gate's post refer to Payment Institution licenses.

· Issuance and Regulation: Issued by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) in accordance with the EU's Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2).
· Business Scope: Allows compliant provision of payment services, fund transfers, and stablecoin payment operations.

· Strategic Significance: Complements the MiCA license (for crypto asset trading and custody), enabling Gate to expand payment services across the entire EU via the EU's "passporting" mechanism.

In simple terms, the MiCA license allows Gate to legally operate exchange business, while the PI license grants it the qualification to conduct compliant "payment transfers" in Europe.

Note: This is the PI license, not Pi Network's KYB, so do not confuse them.
