Golden Finance reported that on July 2, major South Korean banks are expanding their foreign exchange trading teams and strengthening their presence in Seoul and London in preparation for the upcoming 24-hour won foreign exchange market. Woori Bank has added 8 employees to its London office, covering foreign exchange, derivatives, and bond trading positions. Hana Bank has added traders in Seoul and implemented a three-shift rotation to achieve around-the-clock coverage. Shinhan Bank and KB Kookmin Bank are also expanding staff and upgrading systems in tandem. These adjustments are being made to support the nearly 24-hour won foreign exchange trading system starting on July 6, with the aim of improving market liquidity and promoting the internationalization of South Korea’s financial market.
