Abstract generation in progress

Over the past few weeks, commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has surged. With U.S. military support, daily oil flow has exceeded 10 million barrels. The U.S. is pressuring Iran to comply with the maritime clauses in the memorandum of understanding and to establish an agreement that ensures the long-term smooth passage of commercial shipping. Iran has not yet publicly accepted the U.S. demands regarding the strait. Iran's chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that the jurisdiction over the waterway belongs to Iran and Oman.
