Abstract generation in progress
The US Supreme Court ruled on June 29 that President Donald Trump had authority to remove FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter. The decision overturned Humphrey’s Executor, a 1935 precedent on independent agency removal protections. The ruling could place new pressure on the SEC and CFTC as the agencies pursue coordinated crypto oversight. The CLARITY Act raises the stakes because the Senate Banking Committee advanced the bill by a 15-9 vote in May.
