Election Committee constituency lawmaker Wong Kam-fai was arrested on four charges, including drunk driving. Wong Kam-fai responded to the incident on a social media platform and apologized this afternoon (1st) at around 5 p.m., stressing that he will fully cooperate with the investigation. Wong Kam-fai’s statement is as follows:

Regarding a traffic incident involving me at the campus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong a few days ago, which sparked public discussion and caused inconvenience to the University, the Legislative Council, and all sectors, I sincerely apologize.

At present, the incident has been referred to the police and relevant government departments for follow-up and handling in accordance with normal procedures, and I will fully cooperate with the investigation.

Thank you for your concern.

In response to this newspaper’s inquiry, Wong Kam-fai said that the incident has been handled by his lawyers, and the police are following up, so he is temporarily unable to comment.
