Multiple MLCC manufacturers claim they are “currently in the process of raising prices,” and industry insiders are bullish through the end of 2027.

According to media reports, the market has heard that passive component company Yageo has notified customers that it will raise prices on its full range of capacitor products effective today, covering multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), aluminum electrolytic capacitors, tantalum capacitors, polymer aluminum capacitors, film capacitors, and supercapacitors—the broadest price hike from Yageo in recent years. Previously, overseas MLCC giants such as Murata, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, and Taiyo Yuden issued price adjustment notices, with high-capacity MLCCs used in AI servers generally seeing price increases of 15% to 35%, and spot market quotes for some scarce models doubling. On the same day, reporters learned at the Electronica China exhibition in Munich that multiple MLCC manufacturers are already considering price increases in the second half of the year. A staff member at a leading manufacturer's booth told reporters that the company internally expects MLCC prices to continue rising until the end of 2027. Another top manufacturer executive stated that price increases for high-capacity and ultra-high-capacity MLCCs could even extend into 2028 to 2029. The executive added, "Although the number of MLCCs used in AI servers is not large, due to lower yields, capacity consumption is five to ten times higher than for medium-capacity MLCCs. This further widens the capacity gap in the consumer electronics sector, which is also the core reason for the current price increase." (21st Century Business Herald)
