On July 1 local time, a reporter learned from Iranian sources that Iran’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Gharibabadi led a delegation from Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the central bank, and other departments on a visit to Qatar. That morning in Doha, he met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed, to discuss topics including implementing the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding, as well as “removing existing obstacles” on issues such as implementing a ceasefire in Lebanon. Reports say that after Gharibabadi’s meeting with Mohammed, representatives from Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan held trilateral talks in Doha to review the implementation of the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding. After the meeting, Gharibabadi said that Iran has already set up a working group responsible for following up on the implementation of the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding and negotiating a final agreement, but has not yet formally begun negotiations. Iran is continuing consultations through intermediaries to determine the time and location for its working group to conduct negotiations. “If the necessary conditions are met, the working group will formally begin negotiations.” (CCTV News)
