CoinWorld news, Circle ($CRCL) was recently removed by FTSE Russell from five Russell growth benchmarks, including the Russell 1000, Russell 3000, and Russell Midcap growth indices.

This change stems from FTSE Russell's latest rebalancing, where stocks are reclassified based on size and growth/value style factors.
Since then, $CRCL's price has fallen 17.55%, now trading at $62.6, with its market cap evaporating approximately $3.6 billion.

Whether the $62.6 level can hold depends on whether there is active capital willing to take over the index funds' positions.

Growth index turned into value stocks? No, it was directly kicked out, can't even get a classification, this is more embarrassing than a downgrade.

Circle's situation is a black swan event; the fundamentals haven't changed but its index status is gone, and short-term sentiment has collapsed.

A 17.55% drop suggests that the scale of institutional rebalancing isn’t small—could passive fund outflows be the main reason, though?

FTSE Russell made a harsh cut, causing CRCL to lose 3.6 billion in value. Even the stablecoin leader can't withstand the impact of the index reshuffle.
