SoftBank Executes $10 Billion of $30 Billion Follow-on Investment in OpenAI

According to monitoring by Dongcha Beating, SoftBank Group has executed $10 billion of its $30 billion follow-on investment in OpenAI. Previously, SoftBank had invested approximately $34.6 billion in OpenAI through Vision Fund 2. This $30 billion investment, announced in February 2026, will be carried out in three phases of $10 billion each, with OpenAI's pre-investment valuation reaching $730 billion. After completion, SoftBank's total holdings will rise to about $64.6 billion (approximately 13%), making it its largest single bet on AI. OpenAI continues to seek large-scale financing for computing power expansion and model development, while SoftBank is quickly fulfilling its commitments through bridge loans and other means to capitalize on the paper gains brought by the AI boom.
