Supreme Court Lets Trump Fire SEC and CFTC Commissioners at Will

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that presidents can fire SEC, CFTC, and other agency commissioners at will. The decision affirmed Trump’s right to fire Rebecca Slaughter and excluded Federal Reserve governors from the ruling. The ruling could complicate Clarity Act negotiations because Senate Democrats want bipartisan oversight at the SEC and CFTC.
