Mexico are through to the last 16 and will return to the Azteca on Sunday night to face either England or DR Congo.


Julian Quinones lashed their opening goal on the break and Raul Jimenez rifled a second nine minutes later as Mexico, powered by the energy of their partisan crowd, swept aside Ecuador in the first half.
They then sat back and soaked up plenty of pressure in the second to secure their first knockout win in nine attempts.
