Many people in trading have the biggest problem not because they don’t understand, but because they are too "impulsive."
I once mentored a follower who was a typical case: worked a daytime job earning 5,000 yuan a month, and at night wanted to make some extra money through crypto to supplement his income. $BTC
In the beginning, his state could basically be summed up in four words—emotional trading.
He would take profits at the first sign of a dip, immediately exit; when losing, he would stubbornly hold, hoping for a rebound to save him; sometimes he would even stare at the charts late into the night, opening orders impulsively when he got too excited. A month later, it was basically just repeated chaos—no profit, and he was exhausted.
Instead of rushing to teach him any complex techniques, I first helped him change three most fundamental things:
First, allow only 1-2 trades per day; if there’s no opportunity, don’t trade.
Second, set a hard loss limit; once reached, you must stop for the day—no "revenge trading."
Third, only trade opportunities after the structure is confirmed; don’t guess direction or bet on it.
Simply put, it was about first suppressing the "urge to make money."
He was very uncomfortable at first, thinking it was too slow, even doubting whether it could make money. I only told him one thing: Right now, you’re not fighting for returns; you’re practicing to "survive."
Three months later, he slowly changed.
He stopped chasing entries and no longer added positions randomly. His account fluctuated much less. Though it wasn’t huge profits, he began to consistently make some money, and in a few months his monthly returns even approached his salary. $ETH
He said something that stuck with me: "Before, I was crashing into the market; now, I move with the rhythm."
Actually, trading isn’t that mysterious. At the end of the day, it’s just one sentence: First learn to control yourself, then talk about making money.
If you’re the kind of person who easily gets carried away and chases highs and lows, don’t rush to find methods. First, solidify your discipline. Only those who can stay steady will have opportunities later.
