Sweden's "Physical Disadvantage" — Greater Exertion in Group Stage, France Awaits at Ease

France played relatively easily in the group stage. All three matches were overwhelming advantages, and the players' physical exertion was minimal. Deschamps even rotated the squad in the match against Norway, giving the starters a rest.

Sweden was different. All three group stage matches went down to the wire — a big win over Tunisia, a heavy loss to the Netherlands, and a thrilling draw with Japan. Each game consumed a lot of energy. Moreover, Sweden's squad depth is far inferior to France's, with the key players playing almost every full match.

The physical demands of knockout matches are even greater. If the match goes to extra time, Sweden's disadvantage will become more pronounced. France has enough substitutes to bring on and maintain intensity — Barcola, Muani, Coman, each a game-changing player. On Sweden's bench, there are only a handful of capable players.

The physical gap could be one of the key factors determining the match's outcome. France doesn't need to go all out within 90 minutes; they have enough squad depth and physical reserves to handle any situation. Sweden must give everything in the first 60 minutes, or they simply won't be able to keep up with France's pace later on.
