Lately the chain is congested again, gas fees keep fluctuating, and I'm staring at those hundreds of pending transactions in the mempool, kind of zoning out.
Simply put, after you click confirm, the transaction doesn't actually go anywhere; it just sits in the mempool waiting for miners to pick it up. When it's congested, they prioritize transactions with higher gas fees. If yours is set too low, it might get stuck for ten plus minutes or get dropped entirely—then your wallet still shows "processing," but it's already a lost cause. The most ridiculous case I've seen was an NFT mint rush: my transaction was pending for forty minutes, and in the end I wasn't included in any block, but the gas was still deducted. Who do you complain to?
Another issue is information overload. With on-chain large transfers, exchange wallet movements, and everyone rushing to interpret "smart money" moves, I can't keep up. My approach is pretty simple: I only monitor the contract addresses and fee changes related to my own holdings, and block out the rest. After all, if there's a major market move, it won't escape in just a few minutes.
That's it for now. Anyway, I've set up my risk controls, and the rest is up to luck.
