Trump Orders a Full Investigation Into the Oil Industry’s “Price Gouging”! Furious, He Berates Retailers: Cut It Immediately to $2.5

According to Yahoo News, the energy cost of living for Americans has once again become a political focus for the White House.
U.S. President Donald Trump today issued a strong warning on social media, demanding that gas retailers across the country "immediately" lower prices to around $2.50 per gallon, or face "big trouble."
Previously, Trump had formally ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate allegations that major oil companies inflated retail gasoline prices when crude oil prices fell.

As the U.S. and Iran reached a ceasefire agreement, international crude oil supply stabilized, leading to a significant drop in crude oil prices, but American consumers have yet to feel the benefits of lower prices at the pump.
In response, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the speed of price cuts by domestic gasoline retailers and personally issued a stern ultimatum.

Trump warns: Don't lower prices, you'll be in "big trouble"

Trump posted today (30th) on his own social media platform Truth Social, taking an extremely tough tone and targeting gasoline retailers nationwide:

"Gasoline retailers must lower prices IMMEDIATELY! Gouging is absolutely illegal. If retailers do not do this, big problems lie ahead! Start aiming for around $2.50 per gallon."

In addition to threatening retailers, Trump also specifically called out California in his post, criticizing the state government for exploiting local residents with excessively high gas taxes.

Early signs: DOJ has launched antitrust investigation

In fact, Trump's anger at the oil industry has been brewing for some time. Just last week, he formally instructed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to launch an antitrust and price manipulation investigation into major oil giants.
The White House accused these energy companies of failing to pass on the benefits of falling costs to end users at the pump (Pump prices) when international crude oil prices plummeted, allegedly ripping off consumers.
Trump has repeatedly stated that current gasoline prices should be lower, with his ideal target even as low as $2.25 per gallon.
However, the average retail gasoline price across the U.S. is still generally above $2.80 per gallon, and even higher in some high-tax areas.
