Golden Finance reported that on June 30, the privacy L2 Aztec completed the code development for the v5 protocol upgrade, preparing to enter the governance proposal phase. This upgrade is described as the largest since the Alpha Network launch, covering multiple core areas such as block construction, proof performance, penalty mechanisms, privacy protection, and node API, integrating a total of 13 AZIPs.

The upgrade deployment process is the same as v4: anyone can deploy a new contract, sequencers send support signals, token holders conduct governance voting, and it takes effect after the execution delay. Node operators can deploy v5 nodes in advance and keep them in standby mode, automatically activating after the upgrade is executed.
