#GateCompletesDividendDistribution

*Dividend* = the portion of a company's profit distributed to shareholders 💰
Simply put: you own shares, the company makes money, and you get a "bonus" each period.
*3 important things about dividends:*
*1. Meaning & How it works*
Company profits → General Meeting decides what percentage is distributed → Deposited into your account. Usually every 3 months, 6 months, or once a year.
Example: You own BBCA shares. BBCA profits → pays a dividend of Rp 250/share → you own 1000 shares = you receive Rp 250,000 before tax.
*2. Types of dividends*
- *Cash dividend*: Most common. Money is deposited directly into your RDN account.
- *Stock dividend*: You don't get cash, but instead receive additional shares.
- *Interim/Final dividend*: Interim = mid-year. Final = year-end.
*3. Synonyms & Opposite concepts*
- *Similar*: Yield, passive income, effortless earnings
- *Opposite*: Capital gain. Capital gain = profit from a rise in share price. Dividend = profit from profit sharing.
*Tips for remembering dividends*
Imagine you own a boarding house. "Capital gain" = the house's price increases. "Dividend" = the monthly rent you receive even if the house's price doesn't rise.
*Important note for traders/investors*
Dividends aren't free. On the "cum date," the stock price usually drops by about the dividend's value. This is called the "ex-date." So don't FOMO buy just to chase dividends.
