US-Israel-Lebanon Agreement Released, Iran Rejects and Cancels Nuclear Negotiations
The United States government officially released the Trilateral Framework peace agreement document between the US, Israel, and Lebanon signed in Washington D.C. on Saturday (27/6). This agreement, initiated by the US administration, focuses on restoring full sovereignty of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the complete disarmament of the armed group Hezbollah. The document asserts that Israel has no territorial ambitions and is ready to gradually withdraw its troops as security is restored in southern Lebanon.
In response to the release of the document, political escalation in the Middle East has heated up again after the Iranian government openly stated that it does not recognize the framework of the trilateral agreement. According to diplomatic sources, Iran continues to demand the full withdrawal of Israeli forces without additional conditions. Due to this sentiment in Lebanon, coupled with threats from Trump and military strikes against Iran, the bilateral dialogue between the US and Iran in Switzerland regarding the nuclear program, which was supposed to be held on Sunday (28/6), has now officially hit a dead end and been declared canceled.
On the other hand, implementation on the ground continues, with CENTCOM Commander General Brad Cooper scheduled to fly from Israel to Lebanon soon. This urgent visit aims to discuss the formation of a tripartite committee that will oversee the security mechanism and the restoration of the pilot zone. Under this agreement, the US also commits to raising international funds for the economic reconstruction of Lebanon, with the strict condition that the flow of funds is strictly prohibited from reaching non-state armed groups.
