Insiders: The U.S. believes that normalizing relations with Syria is unlikely to achieve a breakthrough before October.

Golden Finance reported that on June 30, citing informed sources, the Jerusalem Post reported that the U.S. government believes the possibility of normalization of relations between Israel and Syria before the Israeli parliamentary elections in October is "very slim." The report stated that Syria demands Israel withdraw its troops from the buffer zone, but the U.S. believes Netanyahu is unlikely to approve the withdrawal before the election, which will become a major obstacle to advancing normalization of relations between the two sides.
