Iran suddenly pours cold water on rumors of upcoming technical talks with the US in Qatar this week.

Iran has just denied reports that it would hold technical talks with the US in Qatar this week. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said no meeting has been scheduled yet. Exchanges can only begin when the two sides fully agree on conditions, timing, and location.
While the consultation process continues through intermediaries, Iran receives a positive signal as Qatar agrees to disburse $6 billion in advance out of the total $12 billion in Iranian assets that are currently restricted. This amount is expected to be used for essential needs such as food and medicine.
At the same time, Iran and Oman held their first meeting on the future management mechanism of the Strait of Hormuz. The two sides focused on discussing how to ensure safe passage for commercial vessels, maintain maritime services, and protect the interests of coastal states.
