Historical Clashes — The Netherlands Have Never Lost, but Their Last Meeting Was 17 Years Ago

The Netherlands and Morocco have faced each other twice in history, with the Netherlands remaining unbeaten with one win and one draw.

In a 2004 friendly, the Netherlands beat Morocco 1-0. In a 2009 friendly, the Netherlands drew 1-1 with Morocco. Both are outdated records from 17 years ago, so their reference value is limited.

The two teams have never met in an official match; tomorrow will be the first time. Morocco's football level has made a qualitative leap since 2018 — from being eliminated in the group stage of the 2018 World Cup to reaching the semi-finals in 2022, and now consistently ranking in the world's top 20. Meanwhile, after a few years in the doldrums, the Netherlands have also returned to the ranks of the world's top teams.

This is a matchup without historical baggage. Both teams are "renewed" sides. Whichever team is more mentally prepared and better adjusted in form will have a better chance to advance.
