US and Iran agree to ceasefire!
According to Axios, the United States and Iran have agreed to stop attacking each other. Both sides plan to meet in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Tuesday, focusing on resolving the dispute over passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Previously, due to different understandings of the ceasefire agreement, the two sides resumed fighting after only about 11 days of ceasefire. Now there is a temporary de-escalation.
What does this actually indicate?
The Strait of Hormuz is the "choke point" for global oil transportation, with a large number of oil tankers passing through every day, accounting for about one-fifth of the world's oil shipping volume.
The conflict between the US and Iran over control of this area has kept the energy market tense.
Now both sides are willing to sit down and talk, showing that neither wants a complete breakdown. However, trust is low, making the agreement difficult to implement, and it could flare up again at any time.
Impact on crude oil (oil prices):
Clearly bearish, oil prices are likely to fall.
Once the Strait stabilizes, oil tankers can pass normally, increasing oil supply, and the risk premium added due to the fighting will disappear. In the short term, oil prices face significant downward pressure and are prone to decline. If Tuesday's talks go well, the drop could be larger.
Impact on Bitcoin (BTC):
Neutral to slightly positive, expected to rise.
As geopolitical risks decrease, market sentiment improves, and people are more willing to buy risk assets. Bitcoin, as a high-volatility asset, typically benefits.
Additionally, falling oil prices can ease global inflationary pressures, which is indirectly positive for the crypto market. In the past, similar ceasefire news has led to a rise in BTC.
This ceasefire is bad news for crude oil but good news for Bitcoin.
But the agreement is still fragile, and the final outcome depends on the results of Tuesday's talks and subsequent implementation.
The market loves to trade on news; short-term opportunities exist, but risks are also significant—operate with caution!
