Beijing's top Gaokao scorers are like opening blind boxes every year. Currently, among the top 20 known, 10 are from Haidian, 6 from Xicheng, 2 from Chaoyang, and 1 each from Dongcheng and Changping.

The Beijing Gaokao has long ceased to be the model where everyone goes to Peking University or Tsinghua. Back then, talent from various provinces stayed in Beijing, and the "second-generation exam takers" group has gradually grown. The fierce education competition starts from an early age. The Keshi Building near my home is one of the top after-school tutoring bases in Haidian.

Take my son's primary school, which is a first-tier, second-class school in Haidian, as an example. Some of his classmates can already complete the Gaokao English test paper, and many can handle the middle school entrance exam English test. I feel that in all likelihood, they will inherit 985/211 status through family tradition. Ordinary local children in Beijing may well be diverted to vocational high schools or technical schools after the middle school entrance exam. The Beijing Gaokao is really not easy anymore...
